Owners’ Backgrounds

  Rhode Island

  It may be the nation’s smallest state but it is also incredibly diverse. Rural, urban, suburban, and coastal communities are all within a half-hour drive. As a result, there can be a tremendous disparity in the value of similar properties, depending on where they are located.
  Principals Susan Weeden and Bob Colston have put together a team of experienced professional appraisers located throughout Rhode Island. They each have a professional dedication to their assignments because they live in the communities where they work.

Susan Weeden, Co-Owner

  Susan is a native Rhode Island resident who grew up in the suburb of Barrington. Her father was a commercial and industrial real estate appraiser and she was raised with his influence throughout her childhood.
  After graduating from Endicott College with a degree in Retail Business, she moved to South Kingstown, Rhode Island. She spent several years as owner and operator of a retail business, then dedicated her energies to raising her son.
  In 1981, Susan found her interest in real estate as a successful sales person founding her own real estate appraisal firm, Weeden Appraisal Company, three years later. After eight successful years in business, she asked Bob Colson to become her business partner. This fall, they celebrate the 20th anniversary of Weeden Appraisal Company.

   Coastal Communities.

  Oceanfront, beachfront, ocean view, and nearby residential properties all have increased value because of their proximity to beaches, ponds, boating and other recreational opportunities. Between them, Susan and Bob have more than 38 years of experience appraising these special properties. They expertly determine and document coastal community property values, so lenders are assured of protection, while purchasers and refinancers obtain greater borrowing flexibility.

Bob Colston, Co-Owner

  Bob was raised in South Kingstown, Rhode Island and has lived in South (Washington) County, Rhode Island all his life. In 1985, Bob began his real estate career as a sales person and became an appraiser two years later.
  Rhode Island began certifying real estate appraisers in 1992 and Bob became one of the first to achieve the Certified Appraiser qualification in that same year.
  As a professional, Bob maintains his membership in the Rhode Island Association of Realtors, the South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce, and the South Kingstown Lions Club.
